The Ecumenical Patriarchate condemns the attack on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra / Το Οικουμενικό Πατριαρχείο καταδικάζει την επίθεση στη Λαύρα του Κιέβου

The Ecumenical Patriarchate learned with profound sorrow and disappointment of the unacceptable and sacrilegious missile attack by the Russian Federation against the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which it condemns, as it does every other similar attack against sacred and emblematic monuments of the common religious and cultural heritage of Christianity.
No reasonable person and no argument can justify this barbaric and destructive attack against a holy place of pilgrimage, such as the renowned Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, with its long history and tradition, which is a UNESCO national heritage monument.
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew spoke by telephone with His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, to whom he expressed his abhorrence at the Russian attack and the wholehearted support of the Mother Church and of himself personally for the long-suffering Ukrainian people. He also expressed his sympathy to the relatives of the victims and to those wounded in the attack.
***Κανείς λογικός άνθρωπος και κανένα επιχείρημα δεν μπορεί να δικαιολογήσει αυτή τη βάρβαρη καταστροφική επίθεση σε βάρος ιερού προσκυνηματικού χώρου, όπως είναι η περιώνυμος Λαύρα του Κιέβου με τη μακρά ιστορία και παράδοση που αποτελεί μνημείο εθνικής κληρονομιάς της UNESCO.
Η Α.Θ. Παναγιότης ο Οικουμενικός Πατριάρχης κ.κ. Βαρθολομαίος επικοινώνησε τηλεφωνικώς με τον Μακ. Μητροπολίτη Κιέβου και πάσης Ουκρανίας κ. Επιφάνιο, στον οποίο εξέφρασε τον αποτροπιασμό του για τη ρωσική επίθεση και την ολόθυμη συμπαράσταση της Μητρός Εκκλησίας και του ιδίου προσωπικώς προς τον πολύπαθο Ουκρανικό λαό. Επίσης, εξέφρασε τη συμπάθειά του προς τους συγγενείς των θυμάτων και τους τραυματίες της επιθέσεως.
