Fr. Gintaras Sungaila Elected to the Board of Oikosnet Europe

During the Oikosnet Europe General Assembly held in Vilnius, Fr Dr Gintaras Sungaila, Director of the Orthodox Christian Institute for Education and Research, was elected to the Board of this international organisation.

Oikosnet Europe is a network of Christian academies and educational and research centres across Europe, bringing together organisations from different Christian traditions. Its work focuses on Christian responsibility in society, ecumenical dialogue, theological education, and reflection on pressing issues affecting Europe today.

The Orthodox Christian Institute for Education and Research is a member of Oikosnet Europe. Fr Gintaras Sungaila’s election to the Board will enable Orthodox Christians in Lithuania to participate even more actively in European cooperation among Christian academies and to contribute to joint Oikosnet Europe initiatives.

This year’s Oikosnet Europe General Assembly took place in Vilnius on 17–20 September. It also included the international conference “Christian Nationalism, War and Hospitality: Christians in the Borderlands of Central and Eastern Europe in Times of Global Tension”, co-organised by the Orthodox Christian Institute for Education and Research.
