International Conference “Constantinople and Moscow: Transformations of Ecclesiastical Allegiance and the Impact of Imperial Policy”


We invite everyone to participate in an international conference focusing on Russia’s use of both soft and hard power through the Church, particularly in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The conference will examine the role of religion in geopolitics, the origins of the “Russian World” ideology, and its impact on regional security. The event is held to mark the anniversary of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The discussions will bring together high-ranking hierarchs, scholars, and international experts, inviting an open and timely dialogue.

Programme of the Event

The conference is organized and supported by: the Jerzy Giedroyc Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation, the Orthodox Christian Institute for Education and Research, the public institution Stiprūs kartu, and the public institution KOIC, LRT, Foreign ministry of Lithuania, Libertas Fidei.

Under the patronage of the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas.

The conference will be held in Lithuanian, Ukrainian, and English with interpretation provided.
